Candice Williams and Thomas Cochran were joined in matrimony on June 28, at St. James Catholic Church with Father John Rebel officiating. The parents of the bride are Ron and Carmy Williams of Austintown, Ohio; the parents of the groom are Jim and Cathy Cochran of Pulaski.

The bride wore an A-line gown of white couture satin, with a sweetheart neckline and accent waistband. Beaded embroidery of Swarovski crystal added detail to the gown. Tiffanie Soverns, matron of honor and Cheriese Farkas, sisters of the bride, attended her. Katie Heaney and Dina Harris, friends of the bride, and Maria Caicco and Bella Caicco, cousins of the bride, also attended. John Cochran, brother of the groom, was the best man. The other groomsmen were Ronnie Williams, brother of the bride, Jimmy and Joey Cochran, brothers of the groom, and Brad Soverns and Adam Farkas, brothers-inlaw of the bride. The vocalist was Jimmy Cochran and the organist was Sister Barbara Ann Smolko. Following the wedding, the reception was held at Ciminero’s Banquet Center in Niles, Ohio.

The bride, a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, earned a degree in early childhood from Youngstown State University, from which she graduated magna cum laude. She currently teaches at the Arts and Science Academy in Warren, Ohio. The groom graduated from Wilmington Area High School before going on to graduate (magna cum laude) with a degree in secondary math education from Youngstown State University. He is expected to complete his master’s degree from YSU in December, and currently teaches at Hickory High School in Hermitage.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Jamaica. They reside in Austintown.

Brian Backlund and Cindy Dempsey announce their engagement to be married on Friday, October 24. Brian is the son of Bill and Cathie Backlund of New Wilmington. Cindy is the daughter of Don and Carol Dempsey of Tonawanda, New York. He is an instrumental music teacher and she is a school counselor. Both work in the Kenmore-Tonawanda School District in New York. A candlelight wedding will be followed by a reception. The couple will honeymoon in St. Lucia.
